Ask for the brand files the next supplier will need

A logo delivery can look complete while the business still lacks a file suitable for its next project. Before commissioning design, agree the actual uses: website, social profile, catalog, signage or presentation. Each may need a different export.

Keep an editable original

Ask which source format will be supplied and whether another designer can edit it. Keep approved exports separate from working drafts. For a Colombian business using multiple suppliers, a simple file register helps prevent an old version appearing on a new campaign.

Document practical choices

Record approved colors, typefaces, spacing guidance and small-size use. Include a version that works on a dark background if that is part of the agreed design. The guidance should explain ordinary decisions rather than becoming a decorative document nobody can use.

Check rights

Fonts, stock photographs and illustrations can have separate licenses. Confirm that their terms fit the business's intended channels. Visual design does not establish trademark availability or registration; obtain relevant professional advice where needed.

W3C's image decision tree helps decide when an image needs a text alternative on the website. Accessibility belongs in implementation as well as identity planning. Bring the intended uses to a brand-design discussion so the deliverable list is concrete.
