Planning
Prepare an invoicing integration brief without guessing tax rules
A request to connect invoicing can conceal several different projects. The website might need to send order details, receive a document reference or show a customer's existing invoice. These are not interchangeable tasks, and the developer should not guess which commercial or tax events apply.
Ask the right people
For a Colombian business, ask the accountant and chosen invoicing provider to identify the required records, current process and approval responsibilities. Refer them to DIAN's electronic invoicing information for official material. A website integration does not itself establish that the business meets its obligations.
Map the technical exchange
Record which system creates the authoritative document, what triggers the request and how the result returns. Agree identifiers for order, customer and issued document. Specify whether the website may display a document or should link to a provider-controlled location.
Include the awkward cases
A customer may correct a detail, cancel an order or request a document after staff have already processed it. A provider may be temporarily unavailable. Define who handles each situation and whether the integration waits, retries or asks for review.
Prepare anonymized sample records and a provider sandbox where available. Keep real identity details out of a public project inquiry. We can implement an agreed exchange and document its recovery behavior under an integration engagement; legal and accounting decisions remain with qualified advisers.
