Price the responsibility being delivered, not only the number of pages

A service site with approved text and a straightforward inquiry differs from a store that must reconcile payments, stock and invoices. Even two quotation tools can require different work if one preserves issued revisions and the other only stores an editable draft.

Separate the deliverables

The proposal identifies public pages, design assets, supported operations, imports, languages and operating instructions. Specify what each one must enable. A catalogue page and a customer-specific document area should not disappear into the same undefined “website” allowance.

Make dependencies visible

Spanish preparation, product information, photography rights, merchant accounts and professional requirements may be supplied by different people. Their readiness affects sequencing. An unconfirmed provider capability can justify a bounded investigation before a development estimate.

Include review and transition work

Existing URLs, records and staff habits need attention during a change. The scope should cover the agreed migration checks, exception cases, account ownership and handover. Recreating only the visible interface may omit the work required to use it responsibly.

State the continuing arrangement

Hosting, subscriptions, provider charges, future content review and maintenance are continuing responsibilities. Identify what is included in the commissioned work and who pays or maintains the remaining parts. Support hours and response arrangements need explicit terms rather than assumptions based on location.

The scope-factor article examines the work included in a defined first release. Describe the intended outcome to prepare a proposal stating included work, business inputs, dependencies, acceptance and later-change boundaries.
